'so don't screw anything up'
The wind howled on the long plateau that lay before him. Birds twittered impatiently as they flocked from one tree to the next, trying to find the best shelter for rain. A hawk cried above, startling the birds altogether, but the Hawk danced in lazy circles, and finally wove it's way behind the hills and into the clouds.
A crow squawked in a high tree beside the red wood wolf, who glanced at his usual companions before twitching his tail and trotting off down the steep hill into his domain. Deer fled from his wake, snorting and flashing bright white tails in their defense. But the red wolf made no notice of the jumpy does in their herds. He was a wolf on a mission. Somewhere someone had made a kill on his land, and as the ruler of his kingdom, he was to have first pick. The crow danced in the wind above him, knowing the wolf would lead him to it's next meal.
As Axel grew closer he could almost taste the luscious prey in his mouth, certainly an elk, and their was the faint smell of stress that grew thicker and thicker as he neared the spot in which he was certain was where the kill presided. With his stomach in knots of hunger he picked up the pace and lowered his head nearer the ground, drinking in the savory scent of meat and blood. He lifted his long fluffy tail in a dominant gesture and leaped into a small knoll of trees, a large elk lay dead on a patch of blood stained dirt, it had a broken leg and looked as if it had died from that, and not the gaping hole in it's large abdomen. Axel sniffed around the site and found the scent of fox and raccoon, but the unusual pair must have scrammed after hearing his approach, for he hadn't tried to be subtle.
He walked over to the abandoned elk and settled into it with pearly white canines that ripped at the tender insides of the belly of the beast. He noticed the raccoon had stolen away with it's innards and it seemed as if the fox must have torn off a chunk of the deers flank. But Axel wasn't displeased, he would have plenty to eat for now. He tossed his head to the sky and let out a long low howl, announcing to his small collection of a pack that he had found food and they were more than welcome to join him... if they got there in time that was. He continued chewing away, deer and other prey of the like avoiding the scent of death and hiding for the carnivorous beasts. Crows flocked in and ripped chunks of meat off only to play with it merrily as Axel ate. It seemed rather a happy sight, if it weren't for the dark clouds that boiled ahead.

A white wolf, a relatively new member to the Etienne pack, had been making usual rounds in the territory area. His silver fur stood out vibrantly in the green and brown haze of the forest, but he still moved with silence and stealth.
He paused as he heard a distant howl; he cocked an ear and thought a moment.
Oh I see. It's that fool of an alpha, Axellion.
He huffed. As much as he hated the wolf, he had no intentions to harm him. Last time a common wolf conspired against the alphas, well, it didn't end well.
Erasmus yawned and eased into a smooth lope, his tail high and waving.
He approached the male consuming the carcass silently, not bothering to announce his approach.
He scoffed in disgust as the alpha gorged himself on the meat. The silver wolf quietly slid into view, immediately helping himself to the finest and fattiest part of the elk.
His disrespect towards the alpha was blatant.

'so don't screw anything up'
Axellion growled a warning to his fellow pack member, which was being generous for the wolf beside him was often remiss in the lines of his pack, typically off drifting on his own rather than supporting the pack or watching the pups. Axel bared his perfect white teeth, long canines eager to dig in to some thing's flesh, for the sake of the other wolf he better hope it was the elk.
"Back in line, pup," he growl and then snapped his jaws in a powerful display of dominance, as well as lifting his tail and pushing into the elk where the other wolf had begun to gorge. "Subordinates eat the lesser half, you know better," he said, digging somewhat greedily into the flesh of the elk, but his eyes forever watching the other wolf. A deep bellow continuously seemed to role out from his throat as he ate.
In the chilly winter air, steam rolled off the dead elk in waves, raising into Axel's mouth and nostrils, warming him from the inside out and then whooshing out again in great puffy clouds. The wolf snarled and snorkeled as he chewed and breathed in great laborious efforts to eat as much meat as he could before the others arrived, even though he'd already ate most his fill. Instincts pushed him to stuff himself until he'd pop and then some, for one never knew when the next meal time might be their last. Besides, eating was how a pack maintained the hierarchy of the pack, that and hunting, but Etienne only hunted on rare occasions, and in a land like this it was somewhat common to find things just lying around dead, for it was so plentiful. Although this was a more scarce season than most, but elk and deer alike were still common meals, even the occasional porcupine.

Erasmus growled; he was not used to submitting to other wolves.
Being raised in Amaris, all of his morals were based around... himself. Erasmus was taught to only look out for himself and to disregard all others. He was only supposed to show respect to the alpha pair, Severin and Saix.
Though, those two wolves were rarely around the subordinates. The one time he ever saw Severin was when he was first accepted into the back. He had made the mistake of looking her in the eyes; with a painful blow, she dismissed him.
Afterwards, Erasmus didn't have much respect for anyone else. Being a new member to this pack... Well, he was finding it hard to see Axellion as an authority figure.
My loyalty really should belong to Severin and Saix... they were the only wolves I felt an admiration for.
He shrugged with a bony roll of his shoulders, returning his attention back to his current pack.
"Back in line, pup," the alpha said. "Subordinates eat the lesser half; you know better."
The silver wolf flashed his eyes in a series of blinks.
"If you keep eating the way you are, there will be no food left for the subordinates," he said coolly.
He offered the earthen-colored wolf a smile, the tips of his shiny white fangs slipping from his dark lips. His eyes were daring and scornful.
